Where’s the line, that thin line, between free speech and slander? Truth & injurious remarks? Don’t let your freedom trample people. We, the people.
We, yes, in the “Land of the Free”, but don’t forget who makes you free, truly free.
It’s not the founding fathers.
It’s the Father of the Fatherless.
The Father of all creation.
The Great I AM
Who is the same yesterday, today and for all tomorrows.
Before you were born, He was.
Before this country was born, He was.
Before your next breath, if you get one, He is.
When you breathe your last, He’s there too.
After our civilization wheezes its last … He will be.
Not George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, not fallible man.
America is not our forever home. We are citizens of a greater country.
Our hope is in a king.
The King of kings, of patriots, of presidents.
So disagree, respectfully.
Speak, courageously.
Lobby passionately.
But do it all without malice or fear.
Remember, we’ve already won ๐
Amen!
Very passionate post – I especially love this line: “America is not our forever home. We are citizens of a greater country. Our hope is in a king.”
But we are one nation over God. That’s what makes us free. It’s even symbolized in the Constitution. It mentions a name of God only once, in the phrase “year of Our Lord” at the end.
God does not demand obedience, and the USA does not exist to serve God. On the contrary, God serves us by teaching us new concepts, like gay rights and scientific truth, that are making this a better nation.
Our nation has arisen in protest against the murders recently committed by our police officers. We all now know that it was a horrible sin, and we’re determined to make it stop. If, instead of listening to God, this nation had listened to those who claim to represent It, we would now be letting the police run rampant and kill us all.
Thank you for your thought-provoking comments.
Yes, God is only mentioned once in our Constitution. Yet, it was framed by a Christian worldview by men whose faith (or lack thereof) was diverse. In the book of Esther, you won’t find God’s name at all, but He’s in it, all the way through her story of faith & courage.
You are right. “God does not demand obedience, and the USA does not exist to serve God.” Individuals exist to serve God & each other. Out of love, not duty.
“One Nation Over God?” was inspired from seeing Christ followers bashing people while toting a “God bless America” attitude. Hence, serving nation over God. You’ll see I wrote it right before the last national election:)
Thank you again for taking the time to share. Grace and peace to you.
